Taking the sleeper train down from London Paddington, we spent a few days exploring Cornwall from a base in Penzance.

You won't find any pictures of the town we actually stayed in on here, Penzance isn't really somewhere you find yourself wanting to take photos. It's surrounded by some pretty nice places though, and we took a week out last September to have a bit of an explore.

Newlyn is just down the road from Penzance and it's still working harbour was a bit of a lovely place for grabbing some of those shots of old rusting things that have so much texture. There's a certain look to things that have been worn and degraded by taking a battering from wind, salt and waves for years.

We headed out to Porthleven for coffee, which seems odd, but there's a small shop run by Origin Coffee Roasters (who are based just down the road in Helston) we usually enjoy their coffee in London so it seemed rude not to stop into (nearly) their hometown.

St. Ives

St. Ives is one of those places thats so lovely, it's not. The quintessential Cornwall town built up around its harbour is picturesque, and everybody knows it. It's absolutely full of people, us included.

That said, ignoring the crowds for long enough and it is a lovely little town, we had a nice explore, bought some fudge and a pasty then headed back to Penzance for the sleeper train later that evening.
